FTE salary £25,080.00 (pro-rata for part-time, term time hours)

Fixed term until February 2020

Exeter Deaf Academy provides specialist education and care tailored to the individual needs of Deaf young people. The sense of belonging to an inspiring bilingual community transforms students as they develop language skills and journey towards independence and fulfilling their potential.

The Academy has recently began the exciting process of building a groundbreaking, prupose-built facility scheduled to open in Exmouth in Spring 2020.  This new world-class Academy will change the lives of Deaf students.  It will break down barriers to Deaf young people, bring comminities together and enable families to thrive.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a positive contribution to this growing and progressive organisation.

The In-house Trainee/Newly Qualified BSL/English Intepreter will work with our staff and students both internally and externally.  This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Interpreter looking to gain career development and consistent work within our team orientated environment.

As an In-house Interpreter, no day is the same, making the role unique, exciting and challenging.  The successful candidate will find themselves working in many different scenarios, allowing them to diversify and expand their skill base.

Can you demonstrate:

A recognised Interpreter qualification and the Level 6 qualification in BSL or evidence of currently training to become qualified.
NRCPD registration
Experience of working with Deaf adults and young people in both a commercial/business and Residential Care/Education environment.
An understanding of the social and emotional barriers which Deaf people face.
Knowledge and an appreciation of the barriers Deaf people face especially in educational settings.
A commitment to professionalism with the ability to provide a first class service.
